The Chinese State Council has announced the end of the restrictions on foreign game consoles, reports Reuters. The sell of these products will be authorized, as far as they are produced in the free trade zone of Shangai. Likewise, an official approval will be needed by companies to commercialize them.
For 14 years was this restriction over foreign game consoles such as Play Station or Xbox enforced. This policy hasn't prevented the Chinese videogame market from growing unstoppably, topping $14 billion in sales. It must be said that most of this revenue has stemmed from PC and online gaming.
The best of this lays on the fact that most of the game consoles in the world are already being produced in China. Among the manufacturers settled there Taiwanese companies such as Foxconn can be found. Nevertheless, the end of the ban are good news that can push videogame market worldwide, as it is already happening in South America.
